Italian Liberation Day

Festa della Liberazione is Italy’s Liberation Day! This is a national holiday that is recognized every April 25 to celebrate the end of the Nazi Germany occupation in Italy during World War II. Mary’s great uncle served for the Italian military in WWII and earned a Medal of Valor. She was able to see the medal and his original honorable discharge paperwork when she visited family in Campania (2019). To celebrate the Festa della Liberazione, she made her famous wedding cookies in the Italian flag colors. They are seen below just prior to decorating with powdered sugar.
